2007 ANNUAL REPORT

The Board of Directors is pleased to submit this report on the various activities of the Association during the year 2007.

We are pleased to inform you that your Association’s active representation in the public hearings on the proposed revision of the Makati Zoning Ordinance has been beneficial to our members in general, with special benefit for those manufacturing/industrial companies to continue operations beyond 2011. With the passage of City Ordinance no. 2004-025, the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Makati approved and allowed our member-industries then existing before the relocation requirement to continue their stay indefinitely.  The City recognizes the fact that our industries have contributed significantly to the attainment of Makati’s continuing growth.  In recognition thereof, these industries will no longer be forced to relocate by the end of 2011.

As an accredited NGO in the City of Makati, your Association is a member of the Makati Business Development Council (headed by the City Mayor) together with the different Chambers and Associations in the City of Makati.

Our members were invited to participate in the International Seminar on Sanitation held last November 15-16, 2007 at ADB Headquarters, Ortigas Centre, Pasig City.  This is in response to the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) Number 7 which targets to halve the proportion of the people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation by 2015.

With the monthly meeting of the MBDC “Straight Talk with the Mayor” our member companies thru our regular representative, were able to bring up matters/problems that concern our members.

To update the members on the BIR rules and regulations on corporate/business taxes, your Association invited resource speakers from Revenue District Offices of Makati in the updates on E-VAT & EWT and the 2007 implementation of the General Tax Amnesty Law and New BIR Administrative

Compliance requirements in Tax Administration.
